Organic Artemisia Absinthium WORMWOOD Oil 9 drams (9 drams = approximately 13 mcg of thujone)
AUCTION IS FOR 9 DRAM VIAL OF WORMWOOD OIL (shown liqueur label not included)

Wormwood is the chief ingredient in absinthe, however, THIS IS NOT ABSINTHE! This 9 dram vial of Wormwood tincture is sold as a THUJONE BOOSTER for ABSINTHE. (1) 9 dram vial is perfect to add to 1 liter of absinthe without ruining the taste. (more than 1 is NOT recommended and will ruin it) This is for medicinal purposes. Consult your health-care practitioner before using high dosages of this herb. The toxicity of wormwood is attributed to a compound it contains called Thujone. Thujone can be toxic to the brain and liver. The leaves of the wormwood plant also contain a substance called santonin, which is said to cause vertigo and delusion in overdoses. Excessive or long term use should be avoided. The oil destroys various types of worms, long-term use, due to the somewhat toxic Thujone, may cause damage to the human nervous system.

Artemisia absinthium Wormwood is, since a long time ago, known as a
medicinal- and magical herb. From the beginning, it comes from
Asia and South- and Middle Europe. The well-known Greek botanist
Dioskrides told how good the herb was to relieve worms from the
stomach. The Indians in New Mexico use the herb, and relatives in
the Airtimes-family, against cold and bronchitis. The Chinese people
use it to stop nose-bleeding. You just pull up a rolled leaf in your
nose and leave it there until the bleeding has stopped. Before,
people considered the herb to kept snakes, witches and trolls away.
Besides that, the aroma from the herb, could raise love between a
man and a woman. In earlier days people used the herb to keep the
moth away from their clothes. If you have a lot of flies around,
hang a couple of twigs in the room, and that little problem is
solved. The same method goes for wasps. Wormwood acts as a a
stomach medicine, being useful for gastric pain, and a lack of
appetite, as well as related problems of heartburn and flatulence. It
is also said to be helpful for liver insufficiency by stimulating liver
and gallbladder secretions. Wormwood oil is a cardiac stimulant and
therefore acts, when taken in proper doses, to improve blood
circulation. Wormwood tea has been recommended to help relieve
pain during labor. The powdered flowering tops have been used to
expel intestinal worms. A fomentation of wormwood tea can be
applied externally to irritations, sprains, or bruises. The oil acts as a
local anesthetic when applied to relieve pains of rheumatism,
neuralgia, and arthritis. PLEASE NOTE: Just because herbs are
natural substances doesn't mean that they can be used
indiscriminately. Herbs can be strong medicine. Before trying any
herbal remedy, be sure that you know what it does, how it is used,
and any possible side effects. Never exceed the recommended dose.
A doctor should monitor the use of any medicinal herb, making sure
it does not conflict with medications already prescribed, and will not
worsen conditions already known. Also, the sensitivity or allergic
reaction can best be handled by a doctor. As a general rule, new
medical problems can occur from ingesting herbal remedies, but the
potential for an allergic or toxic reaction is always there. In
addition, about 1% of all plants are poisonous. Therefore, it is not
recommended that people gather their own herbs unless they are
skilled botanists. Pregnant women should take herbs only under the
direction of a knowledgeable physician or midwife. Some herbs are
contraindicated in certain diseases and/or conditions. Avoid during
pregnancy.
